The Kinks – Face to Face – 8⭐

The Kinks are the kind of band I got to late and didn’t really appreciate because I had already listened to everyone else who had been influenced by them. I have to remind myself this album’s almost 60 years old, because it seems that every other riff and motif sounds familiar – Blur, Oasis, The Divine Comedy, The Who, Black Sabbath and so on.

An entertaining and lively album. I love how their pop-rock style can also give a nod to so many genres, from baroque harpsichords to Hawaiian guitars. Definitely adding this to my usual playlists and to my vinyl wishlist.
