I was on holiday when I found out Heinz Stücke passed away, so here is a belated post on his story. Heinz Stücke was a German man who in 1962, when he was 22 years old, quit his factory job and grabbed his bicycle for a “gap year” cycling, which then turned into more than 50 years on the road.…
Keep readingAs always, these are basically just straight out of the camera. The panorama was stitched and a few photos had some border and angle-corrections added in Photoshop. Same ol’ setup: Fujifilm X-T30 III with the classic XF 18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS + a few recipes I tried over the weekend. We saw a fox too! I tried to remember my…
Keep readingI’ll be honest about two things. First, I’m really bad inexperienced at post-processing photos in DaVinci (even less so in Lightroom). Besides playing with the exposure I don’t like to use (and don’t even know a lot about) other editing tricks. So my photos are usually SOOC with minimal editing in DaVinci or the Windows Photos app, like these are……
Keep readingChris Shaw is hosting this month’s IndieWeb carnival. The theme is “Purpose”. Thank you to Chris for hosting and thanks to Andrei for always participating, I’m finally getting round to joining as well. It says something about the current state of the world that I noticed after publishing this that I inadvertently wrote it in a similar tone to Andrei’s…
Keep readingA few points about The Odyssey, though I know I’m a bit late on this… The Odyssey has quite a few qualities going for it, sure, but there has been a lot of talk surrounding it and some pundits got it right. There are genuine issues with it, from the changes made to the original material to the story-telling and…
Keep readingIn the past couple of months I have watched, gawked at, sat through, and got annoyed at several bad movies. It got me thinking at what makes a bad movie… well, “bad”. It’s probably easier to define great movies. They are made with care; there’s craftsmanship, attention to detail, great effort put into them. A great movie is an artists’…
Keep reading(Pictured: Rhodes Cemetery, Greece. A rose cross monument dedicated to the Knights of Rhodes – I think)It’s unfair that people compare Foucault’s Pendulum to Ulysses. Ulysses is a novel that spans an entire day but some take years to finish. On the other hand, Eco’s Pendulum is a novel that covers a few years but can be read in a…
Keep readingI’m too rubbish to bother with RAW files, I’d rather just have fun and snap quickly, so these are all SOOC with a few Fuji recipes.
Keep readingThinking about this a couple of weeks ago I had another point I wanted to make about AI, namely how it’s like smoking 100 years ago – damaging but presented as a great addition to your life. Now, as this tool is becoming more and more prevalent, my thoughts are circling around different ideas. (Note: I won’t be hypocritical about…
Keep readingYesterday I posted an old lens I had lying around. I said it’s new but the only thing new is that I’m using it. Well, here’s another one. This is new in the sense that it’s new to me… Other than that I ordered it from a Polish guy and it has to be at least 45 years old. Only…
Keep readingA few years ago I was messing around with film photography. I had my grandpa’s old cameras and a Canon I bought at a flea market. A friend gave me a very sturdy Pentax camera he wasn’t using and after shooting a film roll I forgot the camera in a box with my other gear. Well, lately I’m getting back…
Keep readingNew gear starting this month, a sweet Fujifilm X-T30 III that I can’t wait to take around town for photos. My photography skills are a bit rusty, and the gloomy February weather didn’t help with the light, but it was a good challenge for learning the buttons and dials. Only had the budget for a TTArtisan f1.8 fixed lens, but…
Keep reading1. Record This year has started out with an absolute bang. On New Year’s night I discovered, quite by accident, my new favourite band. It’s rather annoying because the more I looked into them I found they played Glastonbury and are well connected with the alternative scene in the UK, which I thought I knew a bit (Jarvis Cocker, Peter…

I’m Seb: kind of working in IT, kind of working on other things as well – jack of all trades and master of none, and that’s how I like it.
I should have been a court’s “jester and weird artist in residence”, but capitalism made it such that I have to work during the day to support techno-feudalism and do my hobbies in my spare time. This is where I’m posting attempts at art, whacks at writing, rolls of reviews, bucket list blunders, artificial articles and a hodgepodge of hobby histories.
Stick around for stories on slow, retro, and analogue living, odd history, weird finds, half-baked reviews, alternative media and a big folder labelled “misc”.
