Arcade Fire’s journey started with a funeral, and it’s a fun one. I like these fellas and their cheeky lyrics and odd instruments. For a debut album this is pretty rockin’, though a bit shaky. “Wake Up” and “Rebellion” are definitely the best on “Funeral”, the rest is a bit shy and messy.
Some artists start high on their first couple albums and then the quality starts to take a dive, or they no longer know how to stay current and just rehash the same old ideas. This is definitely not the case. It’s a daring leap that got them flying later on.
