I guess I’ve fallen behind with music for the past 20 years because I had no idea that Damon Albarn had such a brilliant mind and that he was the man behind two amazing bands, Gorillaz and Blur. Well, he’s got some solo albums as well, and it’s obvious that his muses are firing on all cylinders and some songs don’t fit either band style.
This one’s nice, bang in the middle of artsy, pop, and experimental. Not too fancy, not too loud, definitely sounds more personal, just as Damon has stated. Perhaps that’s a reason I’m not too into it, perhaps it’s just the style… Nevertheless a good album, but it’s like a seafood dinner at a fancy restaurant, I appreciate the taste, the skill behind it, the fresh ingredients, but I’m more of a steak-and-potatoes kind of guy. 7⭐
