I’ll be honest about two things.
First, I’m really bad inexperienced at post-processing photos in DaVinci (even less so in Lightroom). Besides playing with the exposure I don’t like to use (and don’t even know a lot about) other editing tricks. Second, I definitely need to improve my pipeline for compressing the original photos for web. The camera takes 15MB photos and I want to be frugal with the website’s storage space. So… some of these have been through Paint and Photoshop to get under 1MB. Ridiculous, I know… Enjoy the artefacts stacked on top of the grain.

Might as well add a third one: I can’t for the life of me stack multiple exposure photos, so I’m posting the better stuff here that came out well exposed. The other stuff – straight to trash. Git gud or git hom.
I’m also still figuring out how to not blow up the sky. But I saw a video by Sean Tucker recently which had a great tip: protect the highlights. So I’ll try to do that for now on, try to get the highlights well exposed and then just raise the shadows a bit in post. Much better than having a white sky.

All this to say that for the foreseeable future I’ll be sticking to trying to take decent photos in the field, as well as I can. RAW files are basically useless to me and I want to enjoy the process as much as possible, not the post-process.
As usual, these are taken with my Fujifilm X-T30 III with the classic XF 18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS and a couple of recipes I’ve been trying out.

One of my favourite photos from this week-end was not of Peleș Castle or the river, but it was the goddamn rock kissed by the sun… So my homework for next weekend’s photo batch, if I’ll remember it, is to find interesting light. Forget the subject and just focus on finding fun light patterns.
