New year, new me bullshit.
I’m a sucker for New Year’s resolutions. I know about 80% of them fail before February arrives, I know there are strategies and action plans that some people swear by and I’ve read all the advice about taking small steps and periodically going over them to see what works and what doesn’t… Sure, it’s probably a good idea to work on your goals in an organized fashion and adjust periodically. Not to mention that if you’re doing a retrospective, adopting the same resolutions every month, that 80% failure rate will also reset every month. 😉
Let’s face it though. When you turn a certain age or turn the leaf into a new year nothing really changes, though you might need to renew some documents soon. Boosts of motivation don’t work as well as small incremental changes. There’s no new person on the other side of midnight. Habits die harder than John McClane.
But I do like 20% odds for something good sticking. And I like making lists and tables. No, wait, I love making a table for the oddest things (I recently made an inventory table for the pantry just . So of course, along with my bucket list and to-do list I made a resolutions list for 2025.
25 for 25:
- Some are the classics: Lose weight, Exercise, Meditate.
(as to how I will implement these into daily habits, for now I only have concepts of a plan). - Most are things I’d probably get through anyway, but it’s nice to make progress: 25 in ’25 Books, New & Old Music Albums, New & Old Movies, Video Games, Sketches etc
- The rest is soul food: Date nights, Offline days, Travel days, etc
Last, but not least, a minimum of 25 posts in ’25 – beside the usual album and film posts. Cheers to a more analogue 2025! I already started by giving up the annoying smartwatch and treating myself to a nice automatic wristwatch.
