I’m slowly trying to switch from Spotify to Tidal, for obvious reasons, which is a daunting task because I have hundreds of playlists on Spotify and Tidal is lacking in that department. But this is a good opportunity to focus on the artists, listen to albums entirely, as intended, and actually enjoy the music instead of letting it stay in the background.
After Lady’s Bridge I picked up Coles Corner from Richard Hawley. I understand some critics called it more of the same from him, and that might be true, but in the same way as every ACDC album is the same and every blues album is a variation on that twelve-bar.
This is one of my favourite albums I listened to in the past few months. It projects a powerful and melancholic atmosphere with a vintage and mature sound. It’s gorgeous and best heard lossless.
